Sarah welcomes Aja La’Starr and Nikia, organizers of “WHAT ABOUT US: A Celebration of Black Manhood.” This interactive event is designed to salute positive black fathers, artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, educators, men in media and community advocates in an effort to expose their artistry, and dispel the myths that have plagued them within society. Throughout history, African-American men have been profiled, brutalized, incarcerated and murdered. In many cases, it was simply because of the color of their skin. Aja and Nikia, are dedicated to exposing the positive contributions of black men in the community. Aja is a nationally recognized poet, author and hip hop artist from St. Louis. Nikia is a community event planner and the founder of LACE (Ladies after Community Enrichment). To find out more, just click on the video below.
