The American Heart Association is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary health organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. Their main goal is to help build healthier lives by preventing, treating and defeating these diseases. Since 1963, February has been celebrated as American Heart Month, a time to urge Americans to join the battle. February is also the signature month for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign, and the message that heart disease is not only a man’s problem. Besides still being our No.1 killer, it affects more women than men and is more deadly than all forms of cancer combined. An estimated 43 million women in the U.S. are affected by heart disease. In recognition of the 10th National Wear Red Day on Feb. 1, 2013, Go Red for Women is asking that across America, Women Go Red. The American Heart Association Greater St. Louis Executive Director, Tracy A. Brazelton, joins STL TV LIVE host, Sarah Bernard, to break it all down. They also chat about two upcoming community events to help the cause …YMCA ZUMBA and FRESH 102.5 Wine & Chocolate Event at Plaza Frontenac. Find out more by going to http://www.goredforwomen.org
